Born as a result of the determination within of a group of women in the Dwarsrivier Valley, Aitsa! After Care is aimed at creating a safe, caring and stimulating environment allowing for each child's full potential to be nurtured and unlocked.
Open to children between the ages of 5 and 18 years old, the Aitsa! is located in Kylemore, Dwarsrivier Valley - an area which is directly the neighbour of the Banhoek Valley which De Zeven calls home.
Intended to help children find productive, educational, secure and inspirational outlets for their energy, the projects and programmes which make up the day to day at Aitsa! gives students (and parents) an alternative to what was often a dire combination of poverty and parents working long hours leaving children hungry, bored and feeling unappreciated.
Committed to working with both parent and child from the age of 5 all the way through to adulthood (the age of 18), the Aitsa! programmes build not only the student's sense of self but also a sense of family, and community within the Dwarsrivier Valley.
All that we ask of our guests is that they assist us in contributing to Aitsa!'s efforts by allowing the voluntary donation of R15 per room per night to be added to the total bill at the end of your stay. To find out more about how you can donate - please see their website below.
"Aitsa!, a local Khoi San word, means Wow – an expression and exclamation of awe and excitement." - A quote taken from the Aitsa! website on how they chose to name their outreach programme.
